Opt-out fee in lieu of volunteer hours-Fall 2024.
This fee is for StarSkate families who prefer to pay additional fees instead of providing volunteer hours at the K.I.S competition (November 22-24, 2024). An additional fee will apply to StarSkate families that elect to opt out of manadatory hours at the annual ice show in April 2025 (if your StarSkate skater participates).
The Volunteer policy requires the digital signature of the parent/guardian at the time of registration for any StarSkate session or program.
Georgina Skating Club Mandatory Hours Policy 2024-2025:
Purpose
This Mandatory Hours Policy ensures that all members of Georgina Skating Club understand and accept the conditions of the StarSkate mandatory hours required at our annual KIS competition and bi-annual ice show.
Application
This policy applies to all StarSkate parents/guardians of the Georgina Skating Club.
Policy Development and Approval
Georgina Skating Club’s Board of Directors are responsible for developing and implementing policies. The purpose of a policy is to establish clear guidelines and principles to direct and regulate actions, decisions, and behaviours.
Review and Approval: The Board of Directors reviews and approves the required hours and opt-out fees on a yearly basis.
Implementation and Communication
The Mandatory Hours Policy is presented to all StarSkate parents/guardians for acceptance via digital signature on their first invoice of the season. It is also posted on the website and explained at in-person information sessions each September.
Details (KIS Competition): November 22-24, 2024
- All StarSkate families must complete a minimum of 8 adult hours of volunteer service at our annual Provincial Series KIS competition.
- These hours must be completed by an adult, and no children may accompany the adult during this time.
- Members will have a choice of roles on a first-come, first-served basis via electronic sign-up.
- Should the 8 adult hours not be completed in their entirety, an opt-out fee of $250 will be invoiced to the member on December 1st following the competition.
- Members must pay the opt-out fee within 3 weeks of the invoice. Failure to pay will result in the member and their skaters being considered NOT IN GOOD STANDING and they will not be permitted on the ice.
Details (Ice Show)
- All members with a StarSkate skater registered in the ice show must complete 4 hours of volunteer service at our bi-annual ice show. It may be required for the hours to be done partially at the Friday dress rehearsal and partially at a Saturday show.
- These hours must be completed by an adult, and no children may accompany the adult during this time.
- Members will have a choice of roles on a first-come, first-served basis via electronic sign-up.

StarSkate Supervised StarSkate Session Drop In Fall 2024
This ticket is valid for one drop in session for the Supervised StarSkate session. This session is held on Tuesdays in Sutton. It is for Bronze, Silver and Gold skaters who have paid their Skate Canada fee for the year.
You must check in with the program coordinator (info@georginaskatingclub.org) prior to the session you wish to skate. Please note that if the program coordinator/supervising coach determines that the session is already full, you may be unable to take to the ice and your ticket will be accepted on a non-full session in the future. You may purchase multiple tickets at once, however, they are non-refundable and only valid for the Fall 2024 Session.
